Services Utility: Logon Hours Service Display Name (?): | Logon Hours | Short Name (?): | LogonHours | Executable (?): | svchost.exe -k netsvcs | Library (?): | shsvcs.dll | Depends On (?): | None. | Supports (?): | None. | Description (?): | Enforces restrictions on times users can log onto the computer. | OS (?): | Vista Home/Business, Vista Server | Startup (?): | Default | Home | Workstation | Server | Minimal | Tweaked | Automatic | Automatic | Manual | Manual | Manual | Manual | Disabled | Disabled | | Explanation (?): | The logon hours service is new to Windows codename Longhorn. The purpose of this service is to provide restrictions as to when a user is able to login to their computer. This would be useful in disallowing children from using a computer after bedtime hours or from allowing remote users the overnight chance to breach a server at night when there's no sysadmins around. This service can safely be disabled if not in use, but without it the ability to limit logon hours is turned off. |
