Explanation (?): | The file server for macintosh service allows a Windows server to mimic Macintosh file shares for SMB file shares. This allows Macintosh users to browse and transfer files from and to a Windows server. This feature is very useful in a mixed network and can be used to streamline the differing operating systems. If this service is disabled Macintosh users will not be able to access the SMB file shares on the server. However, if you do not wish to use this service it is highly recommended you uninstall this feature through the add/remove components dialog rather than just disabling it. |
